My first week here was "Hobbit Week". The place was FULL of children and their parents playing games, dressing up like little hobbits, going on imaginary journeys. The Community had put a lot of time and energy into setting up scenes for them.
Scargill House was transformed into Middle Earth...
with secret notes and clues and maps everywhere...
Even the chapel stairway was a waterfall...
Oh, What fun! Then, after the children left, the creative ways to connect with God have continued throughout the entire time I have been here:
The Labyrinth in the woods...
Quiet meditation Time in the Walled Garden...
Guided Estate Walks to enjoy nature all around us...
A blooming Chair of the Beloved gave everyone a chance to feel enveloped in God's arms...
There was a night of dancing and laughter...
There were expressions of worship and telling the Gospel story through art...
and putting on the cloak of God's acceptance...
and an opportunity to learn to draw Celtic Knots...
There were lots of creative Prayer Stations...
Laughter and Storytelling...
Times of singing and music...
and creative worship...
A week of Art and Prayer with the Creative Arts Retreat Movement (CARM)
The creative art of baking a special Birthday Cake for a guest...
Quiet Prayers...
Creative Writing...
Creative Expressions of Beauty...
And of course, lots of tea and treats!
Moral of the Story: Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly”
(John 10:10)
Till next time,
Deep Peace from Audrey
