Hey ya'll from Audrey in England; WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I DOING HERE? Part 8. How's the weather?

HERE'S THE WEATHER REPORT.
 "It's a lovely day."

“She’s talking about the weather, she must be English!” You’re right, in England people often start a conversation by discussing the weather. Have you ever wondered why this is?  Well, weather is a very neutral and polite topic of conversation.  And here in England, the weather typically changes frequently, so its always in the forefront of thoughts.
And the other topic of conversation recently has been FOOTBALL!  Normally, the televisions are off here at Scargill, but not when THE WORLD CUP is on.

And especially not when England is playing! Very Exciting!
EVERYONE seems to get in on it.  It has been fun.
OK, so back to the weather...Several people have asked me what the weather has been like in England while I have been here.

The first few weeks, it was cool (50's and 60's in the daytime) and rained a little bit almost daily.  What you would expect in England.  And down in the 40's at night.  Perfect. In fact, a few nights were so cool that I slept under an extra blanket.

But it has been unusually sunny and very warm for the last 2 weeks.  I think it was in the 80's a couple days last week.   (We could have used some sweet iced tea about then.)

And we do not have air conditioning or ice here because it is rarely needed.
So we just open the windows.  It always gets down into the 50's at night, even on the hottest days.  No problem.

Yes, the little midges come in sometimes.  And yes, they are biting on these hot sunny days.  I'm glad I brought bug spray.

But one of the most interesting things here, is that the nights are very short.
And during the summer solstice last week, there were a couple nights when the sunrise was about 3:30 in the morning.

This was the view from my bedroom window at 10:30 PM

And this was the view at 4:00 AM.  I'm serious.

And this was the full moon last week at about 10:00 PM.

Needless to say,  waking up in the morning is not a problem.

We have had some gorgeous sunsets.

I know I am coming home next week to a hot 90 degree mid-summertime in North Carolina.  And I will be very thankful for air conditioning and ice cubes.

Question: What did the fog say to the light rain after her vacation?
Answer:  I mist you.

I'm so glad God's in charge of the weather.

Till next time,
Deep peace to you from Audrey
